More Values

Right relations

This value is central to the way we interact both within the organisation and with partners and participants. This is not to say that there won’t be conflict because we know that unless we’re avoiding issues there will be conflict. We aim to work with the issues rather than take a personal defensive perspective. Right relations for us is about trying not to polarise and make the other bad but rather to own our own struggles and work with them for an honest resolution or an honest disagreement.

Diversity

This value holds a connection to right relations. At the root of fear is fear of the unfamiliar and we are aware that other points of view and other ways of living will not necessarily find a resonance with ours. Common ground is a good place to start but for us it’s not so much about working towards homogenisation but rather towards the wealth of creative energy that can be sparked by exploring difference with respectful curiosity. There is a tension held in this approach that moves between being open and therefore open to influence and change and holding our own shape in such a way as we are not subjugated, overwhelmed or rigidly defensive. There will be times when we are affected and changed by diverse interactions and times when we hold true to the transpersonal perspective.

Participation

Participation is partly about personal confidence and empowerment, and partly about structures that enable voices to be heard. Often those voices are marginalised by systems that claim involvement but don’t deliver. Our organisational systems and structures have been developed to facilitate active involvement and dialogue and we welcome feedback from you if you find this not to be the case. Once two or more people are working towards making change happen the energy really builds - the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

We are committed to our activities being as accessible as possible to a wide range of people. Our programmes will have a number of places discounted to enable those on lower incomes to participate.

Potential for the Future

Synthesise sees it self as being part of the wider human potential movement and will focus its energy and activities on realising potential in individuals, groups and communities. One way that this will be done will be by supporting work that is about creativity, encouraging expression of that which may lie dormant or unexpressed.
